Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia Announces Frank Gehry Exhibition

Fondation Louis Vuitton has announced that it will present the exhibition “Building in Paris,” by Frank Gehry at Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia, Calle del Ridotto in the heart of Venice from May 27 to November 26, 2016.

The exhibition will include a special installation by Daniel Buren incorporating the glass roof of the Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia, echoing his temporary installation on the Frank Gehry-designed Frank Gehry-designed in Paris which was unveiled on May 11.

Originally conceived by Frank Gehry’s teams and the Fondation Louis Vuitton for the inauguration of the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris in 2014, the travelling exhibition has been specially redesigned by Gehry Partners for the exhibition space in Venice.

“Building in Paris” retraces the story of Frank Gehry’s dream to design “a magnificent vessel for Paris that symbolizes France’s profound cultural vocation,” offering a fascinating insight into the creative world of the Canadian-American architect.

The exhibition presents a selection of scale models created during the project by the Gehry Partners Studio, organised by groups to retrace studies for various aspects of the Fondation Louis Vuitton including the project design, interior spaces, the “icebergs,” and the glass sails.
